Kennedy Wilson Internship Spotlight

Updated: Nov 9, 2023

2023 marked the eighth year of Kennedy Wilson’s summer internship program. This year, Kennedy Wilson welcomed 16 interns who were fully immersed in every aspect of the business including engaging in a captivating speaker series, benefiting from a supportive mentorship program, receiving valuable trainings, and collaborating on an exciting live-deal group case study project.

In addition to their professional growth, the interns also devoted a day to giving back to the community by participating in a meaningful volunteer day at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, contributing to the mission of alleviating food insecurity for the 2 million individuals in LA County who are affected. Collaboratively, the team meticulously sorted through an impressive 6,000 lbs. of fresh produce, which will be distributed to those who are facing food insecurity.

To celebrate the end to a great summer, the interns went to a Dodgers game.

We interviewed Luke Field, 23, who interned on the multifamily and development teams and has since joined the multifamily team in a full-time position, to hear about his experience at Kennedy Wilson this summer and how he believes it will impact his career.

Why were you drawn to Kennedy Wilson’s internship program?

“Being able to listen to different speaker series and hear upper management come and chat with us about what they do is definitely an opportunity, and that doesn’t really usually happen or at least hasn’t happened in internships that I’ve previously done.”

What has your experience been like as a KW intern this summer?

“I’ve really felt like the work I’m doing is actually being used. Being able to contribute to the teams’ overall goals is fulfilling, and it feels really good to help out and take work off my supervisor’s plate, knowing that it’s actually going somewhere.”

What has been your favorite part of the internship program?

“I would say getting lunch with managers, supervisors, and mentors and just picking their brains on different questions I have about their aspect of the business—whether it’s property management or the investor relations side. It’s always good to go a little deeper into what they do rather than just the intern presentation talk. It gives you the chance to have one-on-ones with people who have been in the field for 10 years, 20+ years, 30+ years.”

How do you think this internship will benefit you in your career and as a person?

“I think that this internship will benefit me and my career because of the connections that I’ve made. I mean, that’s the biggest aspect of real estate and being able to broaden your network and expand your contact list is always a huge plus. Now working in such a great company such as Kennedy Wilson, I have contacts within the firm that I hope will last.”
